Moxie Falls & Parlin Pond

When you head over to Moxie Falls area, watch out for moose ’cause it’s moose country!

I took the scenic Old Canada Road from Bingham ( see my post: To Bingham
to get to the Forks. The Old Canada Road is a must see!! Click on the links below for more on the Old Canada Road, Old Canada Road, Old Canada Road

This is a picnic area just to the right off Route 201; Moxie Falls is up the road just a short distance!
A view of the footbridge just to the other side of Route 201 that goes to Jackman and on to Canada (or head back to Greenville!!
The parking area at the Moxie Falls site is spacious. There were a few people taking the walk even at this “early” date (April)
The trail is hard packed dirt about 6 feet wide; There were a few places where trees had fallen over the trail (have ya noticed the wind this year)! These trees did not interfere with the walk to MOXIE FALLS!! (See tree over path below)

These trees will most likely be cleared away before the busy season.
More trail! Looks like an easy walk and it is: there are kids scurrying along the path!

Take a look at these tree roots! Nature’s art right along the trail.
When you reach this sign, you’ll know what’s up ahead ( a ways more) Tis only a mile or so into the woods to see Moxie Falls.
To make this an easier walk, steps and platforms have been “installed” This couldn’t get any better!!

There are smaller falls before the BIG one!
There are a couple of viewing platforms, too.
The favorite spot was the ledge-like area: you can see there are people there (and that’s where two fishermen stopped to hang a line in the water. So I leave you guys enjoying the sun and a view of the famous MOXIE FALLS.

Now that you’ve all had the enjoyment of a woodsy walk to Moxie Falls,

it’s time to move on up the road (The Old Canada Road, that is) and take a brief look at Parlin Pond. This area has a connection to the Mike Piel family (see post Katahdin Sheep in Abbot

Approximately 30 miles up the road on The Old Canada Road, you’ll see a pull over area so that you can view Parlin Pond. And there it is !
Hey folks! We’re back in the Flinstone’s era lol! You all can picnic right here on smoothed granite overlooking Parlin Pond.
There are a number of informational kiosks at this sight: the map above is one of them.
Vintage picture of Lake Parlin Hotel: This body of water is listed as Lake Parlin and Parlin Pond. The water looks impressive enough to be called a lake, but anyway, ’tis referred to as both lake and pond.
A very short dirt drive from the pull over spot to the boat dock area below.
A view of Parlin Pond from a boat dock area: see boat dock below.
This pic looks at the road leading north (if you go far enough, you’ll be in Canada. You can also loop around and go through Greenville, ME Whichever road you choose, remember to always, enjoy the views along the way.
