To get to Katahdin Iron Works, drive straight through Brownville Junction. Head north until you see the sign below.

Katahdin Iron Works: Gateway to Gulf Hagas

People come up this way to get to Gulf Hagas a part of the Appalacian Trail. The Katahdin Iron Works just happen to be here at the “entrance point” so to speak of Gulf Hagas.

You can see this sign just left of the checkpoint below.
Across the road from the cabin is the Katahdin Iron Works! This area is being well maintained.

The only other part of the Iron Works, a kiln, sets to the right of the “main” structure.

After crossing the bridge near the Katahdin Iron Works checkpoint, you will see signage to Gulf Hagas head of trail parking area.

Gulf Hagas : a hiking destination for many people!
